Nevena Džamonja (b. 1989 Sarajevo) is a multi-media artist who works in written/ photo/video/time-based mediums, and is based in NYC and Europe. Her work is informed by her background as a refugee, associations with subculture, and investigates liminal human experiences across hegemonic concepts of identity, class, memory and geography. Having participated in Printed Matter’s Art Book Fairs since 2016, her work continues to adhere to the ethos of DIY, underground and outsider art.

She holds a BA in Political Science with minors in Middle Eastern and African Studies from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, and an MA in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University. Professionally, she has worked with various NGO’s in NYC and Lebanon on topics of art and socio-political activism since 2011, and currently works in art and film. She has worked on documentary, narrative and commercial films which have been screened by HBO, Red Bull TV, SXSW and Sundance. Her published works can be found Printed Matter and she has a forthcoming translation with Inpatient Press coming out in 2025.
